What are Interest Groups

This is where members with similar interests join together to form common interest groups to share their knowledge, skills and experience. Members are encouraged to contribute in an informal atmosphere. They may be a leader in an interest group one day, and a student or participant in another group the next.

They may have expertise from their working lives, out-of-work activity or an interesting hobby that they are willing to share with others.

As well as academic subjects, groups may want to develop and share practical skills, interests in social projects, cultural activities or leisure pursuits.

Pace and content of studies depend entirely on the individuals making up the interest group and you should participate in order to gain the most from them.

There are varied interest or study groups in Warsop & District U3A, helping people to join-in with continuing learning in academic subjects, social activities and hobbies with friendly, like-minded people. Anyone interested in finding out more about these groups can contact the Group Leaders via the email facility on the Contact page.

Possible venue for interest groups

Interest groups, if they need a venue post Covid!! might be able to book at the new (refurbished) pavilion at Longden Terrace Bowls Club. I haven't seen inside it yet but it's not a big building so would suit small groups. It's not used for about 5 months from October to April and there will still be availability in the summer months. The building belongs to CISWO (Coal Industry Social and Welfare Organisation). Not sure who is Chairman of the Bowls Club this year, but if there is any interest I can find out.
